About the Speaker:
Janice James has been a practitioner of user research and user-centered design for the past 25 years. Her experience in consumer, enterprise and government software websites and applications, and consumer hardware spans across travel, financial services, education, utilities, healthcare and e-commerce industries. Some of her clients include Intuit, American Airlines, Hewlett Packard, Netscape, The Gap, Medtronic, Cabela’s, McGraw-Hill, Charles Schwab, AARP and more. Previous corporate positions include UX Strategist for Design for Context, Director of User Experience for Perficient, Principal of Simply Usable, Manager of Usability Engineering for Netscape and Manager of Usability Design for Sabre / American Airlines.
Janice is the principal founder of UPA (now UXPA), serving as President for five years. She also developed four UPA conferences and served on the Board of Directors through 1999. She co-authored UPA Chapters Guidelines and directed other leaders in the development of many of the early UPA chapters. Janice also co-founded the STC Professional Interest Committee on Usability and was Usability Co-Chair for CHI 2007.
She is a contributing author of Usability in Practice and co-author of User-Centered Design Stories: Real-World UCD Case Studies and is currently working on a contributing chapter to a book on UX Strategy.
